Big Tigger Domestic Violence Case Takes Another Turn as Prosecutors Decline to File Charges
Atlanta radio personality and former BET “Rap City” host Darian “Big Tigger” Morgan will not face criminal prosecution stemming from a May domestic dispute involving his estranged wife, Alicia Brown.
The situation surrounding Big Tigger and Brown has developed into a complicated legal battle involving allegations of domestic violence, a protective order, custody issues, separate lawsuits and competing claims from both sides.
According to court documents reported by multiple outlets, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office has decided not to prosecute Big Tigger on the criminal charges stemming from the incident. Those charges included aggravated battery and third-degree cruelty to children.
What started the case?
The controversy dates back to a May 9 incident at the couple’s Sandy Springs home.
According to the police affidavit, Brown told investigators that an argument involving text messages between Big Tigger and a female co-worker escalated into a physical confrontation. Brown alleged that Morgan pushed her, causing her to hit her head against an office door and suffer a significant injury above her eye.
Police documents stated that Brown received medical treatment after the incident and that a teenage child inside the home heard the confrontation. Investigators later cited video footage and photographs of Brown’s injury when seeking the arrest warrant.
Big Tigger denied the allegations, saying publicly that the accusations against him were false and that he had confidence in the legal process.
The Ring-camera footage became a major part of the dispute
The case also involved Ring-camera footage from inside the home. Reports indicate that the footage showed the couple struggling during the confrontation, although the interpretation of what happened between them has been disputed.
Brown later made additional allegations concerning access to the home’s security system and claimed that she was pressured to deny what happened. Those claims remain allegations and have not been established as facts in court.
Protective order and custody battle
Following the allegations, Brown obtained a temporary protective order. According to reports, the order required Morgan to remain away from Brown and their children and temporarily gave Brown custody of the minor children and exclusive use of the family home.
The dispute subsequently expanded beyond the original domestic incident.
Brown was later arrested in Georgia in connection with a Maryland kidnapping/custody-related warrant. She was not prosecuted in connection with that arrest and subsequently filed a federal lawsuit against Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, alleging that the arrest was unlawful. Those allegations have not been proven.
Big Tigger’s co-host also became involved
Another major part of the story involved Big Tigger’s V-103 co-host, Francesca Amiker.
Brown’s social-media posts led to speculation about a relationship between Morgan and Amiker. Both Morgan and Amiker denied having an affair or romantic relationship. Amiker subsequently filed a federal defamation lawsuit against Brown over statements she says falsely portrayed her as having an inappropriate relationship with Morgan.
Where things stand now
The biggest development is that Big Tigger will not be criminally prosecuted over the domestic-violence allegations. The Fulton County District Attorney’s decision means the criminal case stemming from the May incident will not move forward.
However, it’s important to understand what that means: a decision not to prosecute is not the same thing as a court finding that the allegations were false or that Morgan was found not guilty. The criminal prosecution simply will not proceed.
Meanwhile, other legal disputes connected to Morgan and Brown have continued.
For Big Tigger, the decision represents a major change from June, when he was arrested and temporarily stepped away from his radio responsibilities while the allegations were being investigated.
The Untold Interview will continue following the story as the remaining legal matters involving Big Tigger and Alicia Brown develop.
Editor’s note: Allegations described in this story are allegations unless specifically identified as established facts or court rulings. The criminal charges against Big Tigger will not be prosecuted according to the latest reports.
